It's springtime and festivals are busting out all over

When springtime comes, you can almost hear the collective "Ahhhhhhhh!" from everyone who’s ready for winter to end. That's probably why there are so many spring festivals in cities and towns all over the USA.

Just to start the conversation, here are a few of the possibilities you might consider worth a visit for celebrating this year’s long awaited "re-greening."

April 1-30: Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, Skagit County, Washington

This giant celebration of the Skagit Valley’s most famous bloom offers the breathtaking sight of hundreds of acres of blossoming flowers, scattered throughout the Skagit Valley. In addition to the tulips, you’ll find events such as helicopter tours and biking, good food and beverages.

April 10-14: North Carolina Azalea Festival, Wilmington, North Carolina

A celebration of Wilmington’s exceptional artwork, gardens, rich history and culture, this is five days of entertainment that include a huge parade, craft shows, street fair, circus, concerts and more.

April 19-21: Durango Bluegrass Meltdown, Durango, Colorado

The annual Durango Bluegrass Meltdown 
features three days of non-stop music on 
three main stages; a Durango-style barn 
dance; and endless music flowing from bars, 
restaurants, coffee houses and downtown 
streets and sidewalks.

May 3-25: Memphis in May Festival,
Memphis, Tennessee

Memphis’ biggest annual festival features the Beale Street Music Festival at Handy Park, a World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest and the SunTrust Sunset Symphony – the festival’s finale.

May 9-27: Bluegrass & BBQ,
Silver Dollar City, Missouri

If you love BBQ and you have a taste for bluegrass music, then the Bluegrass & BBQ Festival at Silver Dollar City, near Branson, Missouri, is the place for you. There are too many bands to list here, but the music never stops.

May 25-27: Atlanta Jazz Festival,
Atlanta, Georgia

The Atlanta Jazz Festival features a variety of  nationally acclaimed jazz artists. It’s nonstop music in an electrified atmosphere that includes vendors displaying some of the city’s finest arts and crafts, plus food and drink.
