Who is eligible for this coverage?

You are guaranteed acceptance in this plan if you are under age 70 and actively engaged as a full-time physician.

Your spouse or domestic partner, under age 70, and all your unmarried, dependent children up to age 18 (up to age 26 if unmarried and full-time students) are also guaranteed acceptance as dependents under your coverage.

Do I have to get a medical exam to qualify for coverage?

No. No medical testing or health questions are required to enroll; your acceptance is guaranteed.

What if I have a pre-existing condition? Can I still enroll in this insurance program?

Yes. As a physician, you are guaranteed approval for this coverage as long as you are under age 70. No pre-existing condition limitations apply, and no medical exam is required.

If your spouse and children meet the eligibility requirements, their approval as dependents under your coverage is also guaranteed.

How much coverage can I get?

You can select $1,000,000, $750,000 or $500,000 in coverage.

Is membership in the AMA required?

No. Membership in the AMA is not required to apply, although Members pay less.

What does this insurance cover?

This plan pays benefits for accidental death or specified injuries related to a covered accident.

Who receives the benefits?

Your benefits go directly to you or to your beneficiary, not to a doctor or hospital.

What is not covered by this plan?

No benefits are paid for losses that result from or are caused directly, indirectly, wholly or partly by: war or act of war, declared or undeclared; suicide or intentionally self-inflicted injury while sane or insane (for Missouri residents, suicide or self-inflicted injury while sane); mental infirmity; bacterial infections (except infections occurring simultaneously with and due to an accidental injury) or any kind of sickness or disease; piloting or acting as a member of the flight crew of any aircraft (any person who as a part of their regular job performs duties or professional services in an aircraft utilized for the purpose of transporting a patient will not be considered a part of the flight crew); flight in an aircraft as a passenger, except an aircraft which is licensed to carry passengers and operated by a licensed pilot, or is a specific transport aircraft operated by the Military Air Command of the United States or similar service of Canada or Great Britain.

How soon will my coverage begin?

Your coverage is effective upon our receipt of your enrollment form, provided your first premium is paid when due.

How do I enroll?

To enroll for this insurance, visit our online enrollment site or download an application.

Do I have to pay my first premium when I enroll?

No. You will not be asked to send any payment now or to provide any credit card or other confidential information with your enrollment form. Your first premium payment is not due until after you receive your billing notice, which will be enclosed with your Certificate of Insurance.

What if I enroll then change my mind?

You'll have a full 30 days after you receive your Certificate of Insurance to make sure you're completely satisfied with your coverage. If you change your mind, you can return your certificate within that 30-day period and get a full refund of any premium paid.
